About Our Sixth Form
Our school, which opened in 2011, aims to provide West London pupils with a classical liberal arts education throughout Years 7 to 11, and our Sixth Form has continued this approach when it opened in 2016. We are providing a broad range of academic qualifications in Mathematics, the Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts and Languages. It is through the study of these subjects that we can introduce students to, in the words of Matthew Arnold, ‘the best that has been thought and said’. In the Sixth Form the emphasis will be on progression towards university and professional life. Students will need to have high aspirations, looking to go on to a rigorous university course or a course of professional training once they have completed their A-Levels.
Our Sixth Form will have some exceptionally well-qualified teachers. Students will be taught by teachers who were educated at top universities, many of whom have postgraduate qualifications in their subject. Many of our teachers have experience of teaching A-Level at high-achieving schools and we have members of staff who have tutored A-Level students in Further Mathematics, run online revision sessions for Government and Politics and edited a series of textbooks for A-Level History. These specialisms allow us to offer a broad range of academic qualifications. In Art, for example, we can offer A-Levels in both History of Art and Fine Art, and in History we have the expertise to offer Medieval and Modern History.
Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, students will encounter some of the leading minds in their particular subjects. We already have a growing tradition of expert guest speakers coming to give talks in the school – from universities, businesses and the professions – and this will continue in the Sixth Form. As a school we go well beyond the confines of the curriculum and our Sixth Form students will have plenty of opportunities to further their knowledge through subject-specific further reading, our Guest Speaker Programme and the Extended Project Qualification, for which we intend to offer students one-to-one support.
