West London Free School

Exam Results 2018

The West London Free School’s GCSE cohort have gained another fantastic set of results, with grades improving still further from last year. Pupils achieved 85% Grades 9-4, with 20% of all examinations taken being awarded a Grade 8 or 9. Several pupils gained top Grade 9s in a range of subjects, including Mathematics, English Literature, English Language, History, Religious Studies, Music, French and all three Sciences. With only very few Grade 9s being awarded throughout the country, this really is a great achievement.

The school’s Attainment 8 and EBacc scores were also excellent and well above average, again improving on results last year, with precise final data being released by the DfE in the autumn. Many congratulations go to all pupils and staff for their hard work, dedication and deserved successes.

The first A Level cohort of the West London Free School achieved some excellent results. 29% of the grades were A*-A, 44% A*-B and 66% A*-C. 10% of all pupils achieved exclusively A*s and As. These are truly outstanding grades. The Maths, History, Religious Studies and MFL Departments achieved particularly strong results.

Three students met their Oxbridge Offers, with Martin L-S achieving three A* and thus gaining the grades he needed to read Medicine at Cambridge, and Luka W and Sofia L-W going to Oxford to read Philosophy & Theology and Modern Foreign Languages respectively.

Several pupils gained straight A* and A grades, including Stephan M (A*A*A*) who is going to Leeds to read Mechanical Engineering, Asher C (A*A*A*) who gained a place on the internationally recognised War Studies course at King’s College, London and Hannan S (A*A*A) who will be reading Mechanical Engineering at UCL. In addition, Arthur H (A*A*A) is going to read PPE at Leeds. These are all highly prestigious institutions and the courses are extremely competitive.

Several girls achieved top grades and will be going to university to study a wide range of courses, including very competitive STEM courses at Russell Group universities. Mimi R (A*A*A) will be going to Imperial to read Design Engineering, Samiha A (AAA) is going to study Biomedical Sciences at Queen Mary’s, Amy M (AAAA) is going to Southampton to read Maths with Computer Science, Similoluwa O (ABB) will be reading Physics at Queen’s Belfast, Victoria G (AAB) is going to study Biochemistry at Warwick and Hope L (ABC) is going to read Cellular and Molecular Science at Bristol.

These are just some of the excellent results achieved by the first cohort of Sixth Formers from the West London Free School. Some of these pupils were with us from the start of the school in 2011, whilst others have joined us along with way, including coming in new to the Sixth Form. Many other students have met their offers from their first or second choice of university and are going to study a wide range of subjects, in addition to those mentioned above, such as Law, History, Economics, International Relations, Music and Criminology. We also have pupils who have gained places at Art College and also some who have decided to follow the apprenticeship route. We are extremely proud of all of their achievements and congratulate all of the students on their excellent grades and on winning places at the country’s top universities. We are looking forward to building a strong network of former pupils, with this cohort being the founding members of our alumni association.
