ABOUT THE COURSE

Languages are passports. They enable us to explore, communicate and succeed. The ability to express ourselves in a foreign language brings confidence and gives us access to ideas, aspirations and the depth and breadth of expression from a variety of cultures. As a student on this course, you will encounter and develop opinions and experience a world of creative and critical thinking, not just from France and other French-speaking European countries, but also from countries and cultures across the Francophone world. You’ll hear, read and learn to evaluate and respond to ideas, claims and questions from European, Asian and African perspectives, regarding regional situations as well as global issues that affect us all. This course is a natural progression from the skills and topics studied at GCSE level. Continued study of a modern foreign language is an invaluable asset, not least for students wishing to add an international dimension to their portfolio of skills and qualifications. It is also an excellent foundation for the study of modern languages at university, giving students the choice to combine language proficiency with study for professional qualifications or to explore great literary works that have stood the test of time.
