ABOUT THE COURSE
Physics enables us to model the infinite complexities of the world around us. This course will help you develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of physics and how they relate to each other. In Year 12 you’ll study electric circuits, classical Mechanics, waves and more contemporary ideas such as Quantum Physics. In Year 13 your knowledge of classical Mechanics will develop to encompass circular motion, as well as studying thermal physics, capacitors and electric and magnetic fields. You will also gain an understanding of today’s applications of physics in medical imaging and nuclear physics. This course builds directly on GCSE Physics, and is equally accessible to WLFS students and those joining us from other schools. This course aims to develop your interest in, and enthusiasm for, physics, and is a gateway to further study and careers in physics or engineering. Studying physics also demonstrates abstract thinking and problem-solving skills, which are valued highly in university subject areas as diverse as mathematics, law or economics.
