UCAS Activities Week 10-14th July 2017
Monday 10th July – Tutor Group Day
Students will take part in tutor-led activities. The day will be organised by tutors for their particular group of tutees and might include museum or exhibition trips or a visit to local businesses.
Tuesday 11th July – UCAS Apply Day
Students will be given a step-by-step guide to completing UCAS Apply – the online system for university applications. They will be given their passwords and under the supervision of tutors will log in for the first time, so they can begin entering their details. Once students have their log in details they will be able to log in to UCAS Apply at any time.
Wednesday 12th July – Life Skills Day
On Life Skills Day there will a series of informative practical workshops, which every student will take part in – First Aid, CV Writing, Interview Skills and Barclays Bank will run a Personal Finance Workshop.
Wednesday 12th July - Higher Education Evening for Parents and Students 6-8pm
Surrey University: Student Finance and Personal Statements
Surrey University is a top tier Russell Group University and we are delighted that outreach officers will be visiting us to talk to parents and students.
Student Finance is a cause of much concern for students and parents alike. Surrey University will explain the system of Tuition Fee and Maintenance Loans, as well as how and when they are paid back.
In preparation for our ‘Personal Statement Day’, Surrey University will also explain what universities are looking for in a personal statement.
Thursday 13th July - Personal Statements Day
With guidance from tutors and one-to-one interviews with subject teachers, students will create the first full draft of their personal statements today. This is a crucial element of any university application and we will give all the support students needs to produce the best possible version before submitting their application in the autumn.
Friday 14th July – Reading University Trip
We have arranged bespoke campus visit to Reading University where we will have a tour of the campus and visit halls of residence. There will be a series of UCAS talks and also an opportunity to hear from student ambassadors about life on campus.
Coaches will depart 8am from Palingswick House and we will return to school by 4pm (traffic dependent).
