2025 A-level Results

WLFS students achieved the best ever set of A-level results in the history of the school in August 2025. A record breaking 87% of students' grades were awarded at a A*, A or B; and almost half of our students achieved three straight As and A*s.

Thanks to their efforts throughout their studies, and the dedication of their teachers, WLFS students went on to study at a superb range of institutions, including most of the top universities in the UK.

  • 94% of applicants achieved a place at their first-choice destination.
  • Students from a disadvantaged background achieved places to study at leading institutions, including Film and English at the University of Bristol; International Relations at Queen Mary University; Philosophy and English literature at the University of Edinburgh; and Biomedical Sciences at Queen Mary University.
  • 13 WLFS students achieved a place at Oxbridge (up from our previous high of seven in 2023), with nine at the University of Oxford, and four at the University of Cambridge
  • One WLFS student achieved a place to study Medicine at the University of Nottingham

Of all the A-level exams sat by WLFS students in 2025:

  • 20% were graded A* (compared with 17% in 2024).
  • 60% were graded A* to A (compared with 52% in 2024).
  • 87% were graded A* to B (compared with 83% in 2024).
  • 96% were graded A* to C (compared with 95% in 2024).

These grades opened the door to top-tier destinations for our students:

  • 67% of applicants achieved a place at a Russell Group University.
  • The University of Bristol was the most popular destination, with 13 students attending.
  • WLFS students achieved places on degree apprenticeships at Amazon, at Taylor Woodrow in Civil Engineering, and a Level 4 apprenticeship at Pinewood Studios in Directing and Cinematography
  • WLFS students achieved places at a range of prestigious art, music and business colleges including Sports Journalism at the University Campus of Football Business; Art Foundation years at Kensington and Chelsea College and Kingston University; and two students studying the sought-after Animation course at the University of the Arts London

We are absolutely delighted with the results this year! We knew our Year 13s were working hard, but we had no idea how hard. Their astonishing grades cement our place as one of the best state schools in the country to study A-levels. This has been achieved through enormously committed staff; teachers with a passion for their subjects; a clear school ethos on both pupil support and academic excellence; and – most importantly of all – amazing students. Well done to every single one of them.

Ben McLaughlin and Robert Peal, Joint Headteachers

It is wonderful to see such resounding success across all our A level subjects. Such a well-earned credit to our staff and students. I am particularly pleased to see the impressive outcomes of students from a disadvantaged background gaining entry to some of the best universities in the country.
