2024 A-level Results

For the second year running, WLFS students have received their best set of A-level results ever, with over half of all grades awarded at an A or A*. Our students will be continuing their studies at some of the best universities in the UK and the world. As it currently stands:

  • More than a quarter of students have achieved straight As and A*s.

  • 82% of applicants will be attending their first-choice destination.

  • Bursary students from a disadvantaged background have achieved places to study Natural Sciences at UCL, Medicine at the University of Southampton, Biomedical Sciences at the University of Reading, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath.

  • As a WLFS first, students have successfully achieved places at 19 out of the top 20 Universities in the UK, according to the Complete University Guide rankings (these being Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, St Andrews, Imperial, Loughborough, Durham, Bath, UCL, Warwick, Surrey, Birmingham, Exeter, Edinburgh, Bristol, York, Sheffield, Liverpool and Southampton).

  • Two WLFS students will be attending Cambridge, two will be attending Oxford, and one will be attending Stanford University in California.

These are the best set of results ever achieved by WLFS students in nationally examined A-levels. Of all the A-level exams sat by WLFS students this summer:

  • 52% were graded A* to A (compared with 48% in 2023).

  • 83% were graded A* to B (compared with 77% in 2023).

  • 95% were graded A* to C (compared with 91% in 2023).

These excellent grades will open the door to some incredible destinations for our students, the majority of whom will be attending their first-choice destination. As it currently stands:

  • 66% of WLFS students will be attending a Russell Group University.

  • The University of Bristol and UCL are our joint most popular destination, with 9 students attending each.

  • Significantly more WLFS students are going to study STEM subjects, such as Cellular and Molecular Medicine (University of Bristol), Robotics Engineering (University of Bath), Chemistry (Imperial College London), Computer Science (University of York) and Biochemistry (University of Oxford).

  • WLFS students will also be attending at a range of prestigious art and music colleges including BIMM University, Kensington and Chelsea College and the University of Art London, and one student will be studying the highly competitive Sports Science course at Loughborough University.

Historic A-level Results 2018-24

We were delighted with our students’ A-level results last year and thought they would be difficult to beat. But this cohort of Year 13s have done exactly that! Over half of the grades being awarded at an A or A* is a significant achievement. There are so many happy faces here today, so many students achieving their dreams, and so many young adults about to make an exciting next step in their lives. The students, staff and families at the WLFS all worked astonishingly hard to achieve these grades, and all can be rightly proud.

West London Free School goes from strength to strength in its A-level attainment with an excellent set of results in 2024.  It is so pleasing to see the hard work of both our students and expert teachers paying off so handsomely.
