2025 GCSE Results

In 2025, pupils at the WLFS achieved the fourth best GCSE results for any comprehensive school in England, based on the Attainment 8 measure.

Our Attainment 8 score was 69.1, meaning the average grade achieved by our pupils across eight core GCSE entries was 6.9. This is over two grades higher than the average for all pupils nationwide in 2025, which was 4.6. This is an enormous achievement for our pupils, and a testament to the exemplary efforts of our staff to teach, guide and care for them over the past five years.

Amongst our 133 pupils taking GCSEs at the WLFS in 2025:

  • 63% of all grades were awarded at a Grade 7 to 9 (51% in 2024).
  • 87% of all grades were awarded at a Grade 5 to 9 (81% in 2024).
  • 93% of all grades were awarded at a Grade 4 to 9 (90% in 2024).
  • The most common grade was a Grade 9. 25% of all GCSE entries achieved this mark.
  • 90% of pupils achieved a pass in both English and Maths (85% in 2024).
  • 79% of pupils achieved the academically demanding EBacc qualification (63% last year), which requires a GCSE pass in English, Maths, Sciences, history or geography, and a foreign language.

Disadvantaged pupils in receipt of the pupil premium grant did exceptionally well, with 79% achieving a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths, compared to 26% nationally. See more here

A record number of WLFS students achieved the grade requirements to attend the WLFS Sixth Form, where students also gained record results at A-level this summer – see here

These results built on a pattern of steady improvement since the WLFS’s first set of GCSE results in 2016, see below for 2018 to 2025:

Today is an immensely happy day for the West London Free School. This group of Year 11s have always been such a hardworking and determined cohort of pupils, and they deserve every accolade they receive. One in four of their results is a Grade 9! That is simply amazing. It will be a pleasure to have so many of them able to stay into the Sixth Form, and we will very much enjoy two more years in their company. Enormous congratulations to all of them, and to all of the WLFS staff who helped them achieve this feat.

Ben McLaughlin and Robert Peal, Joint Headteachers

I am delighted with the GCSE outcomes and the confirmation of the huge focus and effort of our pupils and staff, a winning combination alongside the support of parents and carers. It is particularly pleasing to see that pupils at WLFS who come from disadvantaged backgrounds are on average attaining grades two higher than the national average, which is an impressive outcome.
