2026 A-level Results

WLFS students have achieved a record-breaking set of A-level results this year, with 27% of entries awarded an A* grade, up from 20% last year. Overall, 58% of student entries were awarded an A or A* grade, and 85% of entries were awarded a B grade or higher. 40% of students achieved AAA or higher, and two thirds of our students achieved grades BBB or higher.

In terms of average point score, these are the best results in the school’s history, cementing our place as one of the country’s top state Sixth Forms. Thanks to WLFS students’ hard work, and the dedication of their teachers, they will be studying at a superb range of institutions, both in the UK and abroad. As it currently stands:

• 77% of WLFS students will be attending their first-choice destination.
• WLFS students from a disadvantaged background have achieved places to study at leading institutions, including Computing at Imperial College London; History at Leeds University; Archaeology and Anthropology at Durham University; and Data Science at City St George’s.
• 7 WLFS students will be studying at Oxbridge, including Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Cambridge.
• A record number of WLFS students have been accepted onto medical courses, with two studying Medicine at the Liverpool University and Aston University; one studying Veterinary Science (a first for the school) at Liverpool; and one studying Dental Surgery at the University of Leeds.
• Abroad, WLFS students will be attending New York University, Maastricht University, and Trinity University Texas on a football scholarship.

Of all the A-level exams sat by WLFS students this summer:

• Students achieved the highest average point score in the school’s history at 46.6 (A-).
• 58% were graded A* to A, compared with 60% in 2025.
• 85% were graded A* to B, compared with 87% in 2025.
• 97% were graded A* to C, compared with 96% in 2025.

These grades open the door to top-tier destinations for our students. Currently:

• 68% of applicants will be attending a Russell Group University.
• The University of Bristol is our most popular destination, with 20 students attending.
• Two WLFS students have been awarded degree apprenticships with DXC Technologies and Environmental Sciences at AtkinsRéalis.
• WLFS students will be attending a range of prestigious art and music colleges including five students taking an Art Foundation year at University of the Arts London; and one studying Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire.
• In terms of firsts for the school, one WLFS student will be studying Artificial Intelligence at the Bristol University; another Interior Design at the University of Edinburgh; and another Marine Geography at Cardiff University – the first university faculty we know of with its own research vessel!
