Art Scholarships

As an Art and Music specialist school, WLFS offers 2 places a year to pupils joining Year 7 with an aptitude for Art. Our Art Scholar programme includes:
- A priority place at WLFS, regardless of catchment area.
- 30 minutes drawing tuition once a week.
- Membership of the Architecture Club after school once a week.
- Access to a range of Art clubs such as the Zine Club, Drawing Club or Ceramics.
- Photoshop, IT, Drawing Apps and Video editing tuition one morning before school (8.10-8.35am).
- Art History session.
- Tate Membership for Year 7.
Art Scholars are expected to make a commitment to their Art education by engaging positively in the scholarship programme, going above and beyond in their approach to all creative tasks, going to exhibitions outside school on a regular basis, helping at any Art events within the school and generally flying the flag for the Arts at WLFS. The programme aims to develop the practical abilities of art scholars and deepen their understanding of how creative process work and also to broaden their understanding of visual culture. Our aim is to cultivate well-rounded artists who can also contribute to the Arts in the school.
Apply for an Art Scholarship Test
Our test at Year 7 is designed to identify pupils who have artistic potential as well as those who already enjoy creative processes. So long as your child has a love of art, we would encourage you to apply. For the first stage in the application process, we would ask your child to submit a portfolio of 5 creative works in any media. This can be done by PPT or PDF and emailed to the Head of Art: j.bacchiandreoli@wlfs.org
We will then shortlist 20 pupils to sit the Art Scholarship test. The test lasts approximately 60 minutes and assesses drawing both from direct observation and imagination. There is a short 5 minute interview as well.
The Art Scholarship Test for pupils entering Year 7 in September 2027 will take place on Monday 12th October 2026. Applications will open on 1st June 2026.
Please remember that you must also submit a common application form for a secondary school place to your local authority.
Results
Parents will be notified of the test results by the morning of Tuesday 13th October 2026, and two Art Scholarship places will be offered at the beginning of March 2026 at the same time as all other offers of secondary school places.
