The Classics department at the West London Free School aims to excite and encourage exploration of the civilisations of ancient Greece and Rome by studying their history, culture, language and literature. Classics is a diverse and interdisciplinary subject that offers linguistic, literary and historic knowledge while developing language and analytical skills.
At Key Stage 3 all pupils study classics, including Latin. Over three years this includes units which cover ancient history, classical society, epic literature and tragedy alongside their study of Latin. Pupils are prepared for taking either Latin or classical civilisation (or both) in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
