Before the students would trudge their way to the coaches, the nutritious meals provided by the school’s catering department had to be hauled into the bottom of each bus. There were cheese and tuna sandwiches as well as a crunchy apple and a bottle of cool mineral water. Students then filed into their history classes and marched over to the coaches to begin their journey.

  • Tuesday 24 May 2022 Bertha Earth Programme Earlier this month the Bertha Earth programme came to its crescendo with the Jamie’s Farm residential in Monmouth. The feedback from both pupils and staff on the trip was that it was one of the most enriching and unique experiences of their lives.I think Mr Mansel-Lewis, Lily and Avive encapsulate the week perfectly below:“As a teacher who went on the Jamie's Farm trip, it was an immense privilege to see fourteen Y7 pupils spend a week adopting an agricultural lifestyle in the Wye Valley, in Wales....from learning how to use an axe, to chasing sheep into shearing pens, to cooking breakfast with Jamie's Farm's own eggs, there was never a dull moment”. (Mr Mansel-Lewis)“During my trip with Bertha Earth I have realised the importance of nature ... I got to work with lots of different animals, found out that chopping wood is an amazing stress-reliever, went on an exciting hike across the border and met some incredibly nice people that I will remember forever”.
